Introduction & Objectives

We're headed down a dark path. You see it, I see it, that guy down the street sees it. Things are not looking good for the Republic. At the time I'm alternating between looking out my window and the mountains and typing this, an escalation of violence in the continental US appears inevitable. Hopefully you're reading this in 2030 and laughing the same way you do at Y2K and the 2012 Mayan apocalypse.

Unfortunately, we may not be so lucky.

There's a lot of misinformation out there. If you ask me, the best counter to misinformation is to furnish better information. A lot of it - cable television, newspapers, mass media of all kinds - seems insurmountable. That does't have to be the case. Get the right message out there and eventually you can start making an impact.

If you're easily offended, have hardcore pacifist ideals, or believe that anything on television is a valid news source, I suggest returning to this blog at a later date. For everyone else, we're arriving at the main point: if the situation in the US continues to deteriorate, a lot of good people will be placed into situations they are not mentally, psychologically, physically, or materially prepared for. Let's work on fixing that. Throw out your preconceived notions. Physical confrontations, nonviolent or otherwise, are not fun, cool, or anything like that. You don't live in an action movie. This shit's for keeps, and good people die.

I'd like to take a results-driven approach to community preparedness. That's right - community preparedness. Conflict is a team sport, and a much more useful one than the NFL could ever hope to be. You and a dozen neighbors stand a far better chance at weathering the storm than you do alone. At High Desert Partisan, we'll go over logistics, TTPs, and equipment in a hopefully coherent fashion. It's very easy to get hung up on equipment - let's face it, rifles and plate carriers are sexy! (No, not like that...) There's a lot more to it than having the latest and greatest gear, but it is a necessary and enjoyable topic.

Why did I title this blog High Desert Partisan? The first part should be self-explanatory to anyone who's spent much time in the Four Corners. Now, the last word: Partisan. One Merriam-Webster definition of the word is "a member of a body of detached light troops making forays and harassing an enemy". As fairly average people, it's a bit challenging to come up with the cash for armored personnel carriers and artillery pieces. Accordingly, we will be defending ourselves, our property, and our community as detached light troops because it's the best option available to us. If "making forays and harassing an enemy" sounds a bit aggressive, that's somewhat by design. Adopting a purely defensive posture is a great approach...if you're interested in ceding the initiative to your enemy. The proactive posture is often best.

Who is this enemy? The best answer is: it depends. All justifiable enemies are attempting to unjustly deprive you or another of life, liberty, or property. This may take the form of anything from a petty criminal to deprivation of rights under color of law. Freedom is your birthright - do not let it be taken from you under any pretense!
